The main portion of the two centuries old WelcomHeritage
Mandir Palace was built during the reign of the late
Maharawal Jawahir Singh.This palace is testimony to
the history of Jaisalmer with different portions of
the palace being built by different rulers of Jaisalmer
till as late as the beginning of the twentieth century.
‘BadalVilas’, a unique tower like structure
at Mandir Palace is the tallest structure below the
hill-top city fort, reminding us of the incredible
historical relevance attached to both the palace as
well as the city of Jaisalmer.

Mandir Palace is an exquisitely carbed architectural
marvel of ornate balconies,canopies and delicately
carved screens that represent a high point of local
craftsmanship in its finest and purest form. The rooms
have been refurbished keeping the old ambience of

appoined rooms,which include 19 Deluxe Rooms , 3 Golden
Suites and 2 Surya Mahal Suites.The rooms and suites
are tastefully furnished to meet the requirements
of the morden traveller.
The Surya Mahal Suites were built in 1914 by Maharawal
Jawahir Singhji as part of his personal rooms.These
suites have privet balconies and give a majestic view
of the Jaisalmer Fort.
The Golden Suites date back to 1770 and 1850 and were
the personal rooms of Maharawal Moolrajji and Maharawal
Barisal Singhji respectively.The Golden Suites have
yellow stone interiors which refkect the decor prevalent
in that period.

All the rooms
are equipped with facilities like satellite TV, direct
dial telephone, round the clock room service. There
are other facilities also available in the hotel like
a shopping arcade, coffee bar, safe deposit vaults,
gift shop to name a few.
Dining : There is an in house restaurant
in Mandir Palace that serves a gamut of delectable
food like Chinese, Indian, Continental and of course
Rajasthani. This multi cuisine restaurant is also
very traditionally done up and has a very calm and

Sand
Dunes at Sam (42 km)
The sifting sands of the dunes at Sam, on the edge
of the Desert National Park, relentlessly moving and
changing are a breathtaking sight and the sunsets
there, are particularly spectacular.
The three-day Desert Festival in January attracts
a great deal of visitors. The evening entertainment
includes captivating performances by snake charmers,
puppeteers, folk dancers and musicians and camel races
& camel polo are also on the festival agenda.
The culmination of the festival takes place around
campfires that burn till dawn at the sand dunes in
Sam, where most of the festivities take place.
Lodurva
(16 km) Ancient capital of Jaisalmer. Its complex
of splendid Jain temples makes it both a tourist attraction
and an important Jain pilgrim centre.
Akal Wood Fossil Park
(17 km) Fossillised remains of a forest that grew
180 million years ago. Close by is another pre-historic
site - Kandiala - where undated fossilised rocks with
tiny sea shells embedded in them can be seen, evidence
that this desert was once part of the ocean bed!
Desert National Park
(45km) This 3000 km stretch protects the fragile desert
ecosystem in its natural environs. The native flora
consists of cacti, thorny shrubs, bushes and trees
and hardy vegetation and the local fauna constitutes
animal species like the monitor lizard, desert foxes,
porcupines and herds of black buck.
Camel and Jeep Safari in Dunes
Shri MohanGarh Fort (65 KMS)
The youngest Fort of India situated near the Indira
Gandhi canal. It is famous for shooting like Sarfarosh
and Tashan.
Fortress Of Hadda (25 KMS)- A Fortress and not a Fort
due to its miniature size. It is situated between
Jaisalmer and Mohangarh Fort.
