The cottage overlooks the sacred shaali peak and is only a half hour drive from Shimla, and only 3 kms from the town of Mashobra.

Just below the cottage is a vast expanse of fields growing a variety of vegetables and surrounded by apple orchards..

Naldehra Golf Course
This century old, golf course is about 12 kms from the cottage. Naldehra offers one of the oldest and most sporting golf courses in India, set in the midst of thick forests. It was originally placed by the British viceroy of India, Lord Curzon in 1903 A.D. He was so enchanted by the spot that he named one of his daughters Naldehra after it. This is a par 68, nine hole golf course which is regarded as one of the most challenging in the country.

Forest Hill Trek
A popular trek from the cottage towards wildflower hall which is a 20 min gradual climb that skirts the mashobra hill around the presidential retreat ,a beautiful colonial bungalow that is used by the president of India as a summer retreat. The forest trail descends from the helipad, on a hilltop adjacent to the wildflower hall. It then winds down through thick oak forests and apple orchards offering breathtaking views of the mountains. Make a rough map of the trail. Distance-8 km walking time: 4 hrs

Level walk for 16 kms starting from the cottage, ideal for walking and cycling.

Shalli Peak
The highest peak of this belt can be reached by trekking from Mashobra.

Sipur
2 kms from the cottage is the famous Sipur temple where the annual fair is held in the month of may. A little track leads down to Sipur, a grassy glade with a stream wandering through it.

Carignano
The well known carignano resort is only 6 kms from the cottage and 3 kms from mashobra.

Wildflower Hall
Situated at 8,350 ft in the magnificent Himalayas, Wildflower Hall is a fairy tale luxury resort set in 23 acres of virgin woods of pine and cedar. The former residence of Lord Kitchner, rebuilt to a new magnificence. Wildflower Hall recreates the grand style of the colonial era. Located in Charabra which is a 20 min. drive or a 30 min. climb from the Forest Hill Villa.

River rafting in Tattapani (seasonal)
Literally means ‘Hot Water’. Tattapani is 29 kms from naldehra, located on the right bank of the river satluj at an altitude of 656 mtrs. This natural sulphur spring is pure and has curative powers of various kinds. The temperature of the water keeps fluctuating depending on the water level of the river. River rafting is handled by trained operators. The powerhouse at chabba which is 18 kms from naldehra provides a starting point for the 11 km river rafting stretch to Tattapani. Tattapani is also famous for trout fishing. The season begins from 31st march-31st Oct. Fishing fees are nominal.

Shopping in Shimla
Shopping includes, handicrafts- wood and metalwork, shawls, woolens, local tweed, caps etc. Local made jams, squashes, pickles are very popular. Himachal also produces over 25 different varieties of fruit wines which make excellent gifts.
