The Koshys Homestay

Set against the backdrop of the misty mountains of Kurushumala, the lush meadows of Periyar nearby and the calm village ambience make this a great base to explore the beautiful area of Periyar. The homestay is ideally located less than a kilometer from Kumily town, the spice garden of India and borders the famed forest of Periyar Tiger Reserve.

 
Accommodation
The rooms are well appointed and equipped with modern facilities, wardrobe for safe, keeping writing table are provided for each of the three rooms along with attached modren bathroom with flowing hot water showers.

The Hill View Room
With the windows facing the tiger reserve, the twin bed room has amenities like writing table, chairs, reading lamps, cupboard for safe keeping and an attached bathroom.

Couple Special Room
A spacious bed room ideal for couples. Has twin beds, writing table, chairs, reading lamps, cupboard for safe keeping and an attached modern bathroom.
 
 
Kids bedroom
The Kids bedroom has twin beds, cartoon printed blankets, table lamps, cupboard for safe keeping and attached bathroom.

The Bathrooms
The bathrooms have 24 hour flowing hot water showers, western wall closets, clean white tiling, white bath & face towels and a bath kit with shampoo, soap etc.

We offer a peace full ambience where you can spend time sufing through the wide variety of books.

We provide a coffee/tea maker, fridge, hot plate etc. in the kitchenette.

The Roof Top Sit out
With great view of the Periyar Hills at the backdrop and the meadows on the other side, the Roof top is the highlight of our property.

 
Activities
Mannan Tribes are only found in this part of the world. The program includes walk through the plantations, visit the tribal huts and the tribal museum visit.

Bamboo Rafting
Bamboo Rafting is a day long activity which involves trekking through the Tiger Reserve and rafting on the traditional tribal raft. Great opportunity for wildlife sighting.

Forest Trekking
From 3 hours to 3 day full treks, Periyar is home to the trekking enthusiasts. The rain forest gives you a great opportunity to spot wild life in its natural habitat.

Wildlife near Periyar Lake
Periyar Tiger Reserve has an area of 777 sq. km of forest. The Activities in the reserve give you a great chance to encounter the wildlife.

Boating at the Periyar Lake
The forest department organizes boating at the Periyar Lake. The program is two hours and is a leisurely way of exploring the forest
 
Activities

Cloud Walk
Three hour trek to the Kurushumala hills, right behind the homestay, guided by the tribal guides. This also involves trek through the forest and tribal village visit.

Plantation Visit
Kumily is known as the 'Spice Garden of India' - ideal place for a plantation visit. The spice plantation visit is a guided walk through local plantation with a naturalist.

Vineyards of Tamil Nadu
The vineyards are half an hour drive from Koshys. The vineyards are located at a village called Gudalur in Tamil Nadu

Jungle Safari at Gavi, Periyar
Jungle Safari is a full day activity. Early morning you start from Koshys on open jeeps. The drive takes you through plantation and the thick forests of Periyar.
