The Silver Oaks is a legend and was built in 1930. Once the family home of a leading British Jute Magnate, Mr./Mrs. John Mason lived in Kalimpong for over 40 years. They loved Kalimpong and their dedicated contribution is prevalent. They left a landmark........ The Silver Oaks Today.
The property moved on to Mr. Frederick Desraj, a prominent architect of Old Kalimpong, one of the land marks being the old Teesta Bridge.
Finally The Silver Oaks was acquired by the The Elgin Heritage Hotels of the Himalayas. The restoration work took five years to complete.
Water colours and lithographs by old masters adorn the walls. Period furniture offer comfort as well as add to the old world opulence of the interiors.
