Balrampur
House Nainital was the summer Palace of the Royal Family of
Balrampur since the 1880's. It was known as Ivy Park Palace
till 1932 when the old single story palace was demolished to
recreate a modern structure by the famous European Architect,
Monsieur Mortimere in the style of a French Chateaux.
Balrampur
House, second only to the Government House with its sprawling
gardens landscaped by manually chiselling out the hillside to
create perfect flat lands, towered by Cheena Peak as a back
drop is amongst the most beautiful and imposing properties in
Nainital. The present Maharaja converted the Palace into a Heritage
Hotel in 1995.
The
nearest railhead is Kathgodam (34 Kms.). It takes one hour to
drive up from Kathgodam to Nainital by taxi. The nearest airport
is Pantnagar (70 Kms) but presently, flights are not operational
daily from that airport. The next nearest airport is Delhi (310
Kms.).

Deluxe Room : These rooms were the guestroom during the
raj days in which private guests and relatives of the
royal family housed.Some of the furniture used in these
rooms are antiques.
Superior Deluxe : These massive rooms were used as bedrooms
and drawing rooms by the Maharaja & Maharani,which have
now been converted into rooms for the guest with modern
amenities. All the rooms have a fireplace
This dining room used to be the Billiard Room where the
Maharaja enjoyed the sport. The dining room serves Indian
and continental cuisene.The gowns decorated as wall hangings
are genuine Kashmiri Jamewars.

Places
of interest in and around Nainital- China Peak The highest
peak in the region, 5km from Nainital, is about 2.5 hrs.
Walk from the top(2610m ) there are stunning views of
the Himalayan peaks & Nainital town. One can either trek
or go on horse back.
Dorothy seat/ Tiffin top A 4 km. walk 1.5 hrs. to the
west brings one to this point, which offer an excellent
view of Nainital and surrounding. From here, a 45 min.
Picturesque trek leads one to land's End (2100m) through
a forest of oak, deodar and pine. This is a cliff, offering
an excellent aerial view of khurpatal lake and terraced
field. It is accessible by horse also.
Golf Course One of the best golf course in India, it is
an 18-hole course. Prior permission is required for visiting
/ playing.
Hanumangarhi This is a temple, 3kmSouth of Nainital, and
offers a very picturesque view of the setting sun.
High Altitude Zoo Perched at an altitude of 2075m, 1.5km
from the mail the zoo is high altitude animals & birds,
especially the Siberian Tiger.
Khurpa Tal 12km from Nainital, this is a small lake, a
paradise for anglers.
