Rooms

There is no television, no telephone and no music in the rooms to invade the peace and quiet of the surroundings. This creates an atmosphere of utter serenity, which is as refreshing as it is rare. Here you hear the true sounds of the jungle coming alive at night - the sounds that Corbett wrote fondly about…

DELUXE ROOMS If a taste of sheer luxury in the wild is what you were looking for, try our deluxe cottages. These spacious rooms are well appointed and each has a private veranda offering a panoramic view of the mountains and the ponds.

STANDARD ROOMS Our standard cottages are a perfect place for you to rest after a wonderfully relaxing day. These rooms are furnished with local material, in-house paintings, and verandahs that skirt the forest. With beautiful natural scenery from your porch don't forget to come up for dinner. We have both Standard Non A/C and Standard A/C rooms available.

Activities

SAFARIS The National Park organizes van safaris into unspoiled sanctuary areas, The rides usually last anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour and spotting game is common. Visit a forest department elephant camp where around 29 pachyderms are cared for and trained. You can witness them give a thorough cleaning, followed by a pooja (offering to the deity) by the elephants themselves and culminating in feeding them. Believe it or not, each has its own diet on an everyday basis to adhere to. But beware, lest you get taken for a ride!

TREKKING Walking shoes are definitely advisable on our treks as the forest paths are undulating, featuring rocky outcrops, bouldered streams, gnarled roots, and steep inclines. This deciduous forest boasts a wealth of flora and fauna for the avid nature lover. There is every chance of seeing/encountering wildlife (sloth bears, elephants, bison, dholes, tiger, panther, a variety of birds, etc.) at close quarters. So, if that tree trunk you're leaning on moves, break into prayer and a full-paced run. The birds are particularly varied and exotic, due to an immediate change in elevation of 3500 feet that provides a variety of climatic conditions, which appeal to over 320 species of birds. The climb, reasonably challenging, begins through bamboo, passes dry deciduous forest, eucalyptus trees and finally the famed tea plantations of the Nilgiris. A guide will accompany every party of trekkers, to provide information on the flora and fauna, as well as to see to your safety. Alternatively one could also trek thorough open meadows along babbling brooks, rivers and watering holes. The topography can be as distinctive as grassland to scrub jungles to deciduous forests.

Swimming Pool With the “Blue Hills” set as a live portrait, the view of the range kaleidoscopes from lofty peaks to misty mountainside, hazy blue to emerald green. This astounding view sets a perfect backdrop for the swimming pool during each season

BIRD WATCHING This area of the Nilgiris is home to over 320 species of birds, both migratory as well as sedentary. The sholas and jungles provide perfect habitat for them all year round. Jungle Hut offers bird watching treks that can last from 2 hours to 8 hours depending on what you want. These treks will be an organized guided tour that will include the guide-cum-local ornithologist who has combed this area the last 29 years and been part of special teams in the related field in many of the National Parks of India. He will assist you in spotting as well as listening to the calls of our feathered friends. If on your walk you happen to hear a naughty whistle-song, it is for sure not a schoolboy playing truant. Rather it is the melody of the Malabar Whistling Thrush which one could listen for hours.
