Rana Kumbha, the builder extraordinaire, is credited with building thirty-two of the eighty–four fortresses that formed bull work of defense of the Kingdom of Mewar, constantly on its guard against the Mughal Armies. Rana Kumbha ruled the Kingdom of Mewar for thirty-five long and eventful years (reign 1433 – 1468 AD). The towering gate of Kumbhalgarh has been a mute witness to a valorous past drive through these huge gates today and you enter a world made only for hardened warriors and chiefs. The steep incline and the huge steps of stone, the fort was home to men who lived by the sword…and died on the battlefield, upholding the honor and pride of Mewar..  

Enjoy the exciting visit to the adjoining wildlife sanctuary which boasts of Panthers, Wild Boars, Antelope, Deer, Sloth Bear besides over a hundred different species of Birds. Meet the local Tribals "Bhils & Garasias", take part in their daily rituals and dance and enjoy yourself in their musical traditions.

Our chefs at Chowka will lay out sumptuous spreads for you through the day and night as you soak in the sights and sounds of Kumbhalgarh. At Chowka, let our chefs make you discover the delights of ethnic cuisine. As you explore the nature-trails and the fort, you can relish these offerings served with warmth and old-world grace. Open for breakfast, light snacks through the day, lunch, and dinner Timings: 7.00 am to 10:30 pm

Chhapar Chhapar (the word means ‘thatched roof’), the coffee shop overlooking the scenic hillsides and the swimming pool at The Aodhi! For the young and old alike, Chhapar offers a range of delights: beverages and snacks to suit the holiday-mood. You can energise yourself with fresh juices and shakes, as you soak in the sights and sounds of Kumbhalgarh. Timings:11.00 am to 7.00 pm

Chowpal Chowpal (the word means ‘the meeting place of village-elders’), the bar at The Aodhi, where you may quench your thirst as you soak in the sights and sounds of Kumbhalgarh! Raise a toast to a memorable heritage-holiday as our bartender at Choupal, serves your choice of drinks and cocktails. The ethnic décor here recreates a friendly, and often familiar, ambience. Timings: 11.00 am to 10:30 pm

Recreation

The recreation facilities at the Aodhi Hotel include: Swimming Pool, Indoor Games, Horse and Jeep Safaris, Trekking and Bird and Wildlife viewing. In addition, the city of Kumbhalgarh offers a number of attractions.

The outskirts and surrounding areas of Kumbhalgarh also have a number of interesting and must-see places.

The peak season in Kumbhalgarh runs through autumn, winter and spring in the months of October - March. The temperature is approximately 4ºC - 25ºC, and the rainfall is occasional, with light showers. During this period, you would require woolens or heavy cottons .

Horseback Riding at Kumbhalgarh

2 hrs ride to the Fort and temples : Rs 300 per person
Ride at the lake : Rs 600 per person
Half day ride in the sanctuary with lunch : Rs 1500 per person
