The historic city of Jaipur was founded in 1727 by a Rajasthani king, Sawai Jai Singh-II. Jaipur, literally means the City of Victory and was one of the best cities of its time in the world. Most of the palaces and buildings in the city were made from pink sandstone and hence Jaipur came to be called the 'Pink City'.
