Dharampur is a hill town nestled on National Highway No.8, with Sunrise Cottage - a nice Hotel near Kasauli - situated at it's edge, right on the main highway, without the accompanying noise.
Just drive in; it is not even off the road, and there is plenty of parking.
Why does anyone need to stay in Dharampur, especially at Sunrise Cottage?
Well, because of it's location, location and location, not to mention the tastefully decorated, scenic rooms looking straight out onto the tree tops of fragrant pine forests right above the serpentine track of the famous hill train which winds through the Shimla Hills all the way from Kalka to Shimla.

Sunrise Cottage is strategically located at the junction of the Kalka-Kasauli-Shimla Road. So if you have children studying at the Lawrence School, Sanawar, or Pinegrove School or Dagshai Public School or other major educational institutions nearby, it is your ideal location. You could even drive down to Timber Trail to sample the Car Cable.

Beautiful drives continue to the apple collection centre at Barog, to the historical Cantonment town of Kasauli, to Sobatu and Dagshai, and ofcourse, Dharampur is the town situated just before, or after sprawling Solan, depending on the direction of your approach.

If you are going to Mashobra, or planning a golf week-end at Naldera, acclimatize to higher hills with an over night stop at Sunrise Cottage, just for the joy of nestling into a spotless, clean bed after a steaming solar heated bath looking out at romantic moonlit forests and twinkling stars from your picture window. And let the dawn wash over you while you lazingly watch all it's changing colours in the horizon. It's like sleeping out in the open, without any of the accompanying discomforts!
 

Accommodation
Simple, but pleasing decor is the hall mark of our rooms - with a 180 degree natural panoramic view as their hi-lite. A private balcony and sit-out exists in 8 out of the 10 rooms that comprise Sunrise Cottage.

All rooms have attached tiled bathrooms with modern fittings, including shower, geyser (with eco-friendly solar water-heating). One of the bathrooms makes you feel that you are taking a shower out in the open - the glass wall opens out to the view! Towels and soap are provided.

Rooms can be inter-connected into two-bedroom suites, each with it's own attached bathroom.
Certain rooms have kitchenette counters - especially the interconnecting suites. These are most suitable for long stays. The ultimate luxury is a private dressing area with a built in wardrobe and dressing table.
 
Facilities
Each room is fitted with a colour LCD TV/Satellite Cable connection.
Beds are king and queen sized (large!) and comfortable, with foam mattresses and good quality, clean linen, soft duvets and/or mink blankets. You just sink into them!
Hot water bottles, room heaters and an ironing board are provided on request.
Electric Tea Kettles, with mugs and tea sachets are provided in the rooms.
A PBX communication system connects guests with the Reception, but Room Service is actively discouraged.

Resturent
Bed tea service is provided in the rooms. No room service.
Breakfast is served buffet style on the Deck. Tmings: 7 a.m. - 10.30 a.m.
A la Carte parathas with yoghurt, lassi, tea, coffee, soft drinks available on the Deck all day.
Lunch and dinner time thalis are the main meals.
Only vegetarian food is served.
We request our Guests not to consume liquor or smoke in the public areas of Sunrise Cottage.
Out-and-about Eating Joints:
Dharampur has always been famed as a Highway Mid-Point stopping place due to the legendry Gyani-da-Dhaba on the Kalka/Shimla highway. It was almost a mandatory food and loo stop for all motor traffic! Today it is spoiled for choice with the addition of Colonel's, Hot Millions and now, the picturesque Havelli, right next to Sunrise Cottage. Then there is Chilly. Go out and enjoy! The cool weather, the perfume of the pines and the short walk all help build up a really good appetite!

Sunrise Cottage is strategically located at the junction of the Kalka-Kasauli-Shimla Road. So if you have children studying at the Lawrence School, Sanawar or Pinegrove School or Dagshai Public School or other major educational institutions nearby, it is your ideal location. The only Cable Car in the region is on the way. There is now a brand new road which by-passes Kalka and Pinjore and makes your approach congestion free.
