Anand Bhawan Cottage is located in the Bakrota Hills, on the 'Round' (2085m). The Bakrota Hills frame a breathtaking view of the further snow-clad peaks. The 'round' is a 3 1/2 km , flat , walking circuit around the hill, very popular with residents and tourists alike.

Anand Bhawan Cottage is a fully furnished, wood paneled, 2 bedroom cottage. It can easily accommodate 6 adults or 4 adults and 3 children The cottage is completely self sufficient with a T.v.,fully equipped kitchen, washing machine, refrigerator etc. You can drive your car right up to the cottage.

You can cook your own food or request for a cook at a nominal extra charge. Regular cleaning service is available at no extra charge. The guests can avail the facility of putting up their driver or servant in quarters provided at no extra cost. Ample parking is available. Additional accommodation of another 2 bedrooms can be provided, if required. The cottage is rented as a unit and not room wise.

Because of the temperate climate of Dalhousie, the original project to start a Sanatorium for the British soldiers was envisaged in 1851 by Col Napier, and was extensively used for the soldiers after the 1857 freedom struggle. As it stands today.

Dalhousie is a quiet town, with a sense of enchantment, situated 563 kms from Delhi . This hill station spreads over five low-level hills at the western edge of the Dhauladhar range, just east of the Ravi River. The picturesque town is interspersed with the colonial-era buildings, low roofed stalls and hotels. The pine-covered slopes around it are intersected with paths and treks, which are ideal for short undemanding walks.

The gateway to the Chamba Valley, this colonial town was established in 1854 by the British governor-general Lord Dalhousie. Covering an area of 14 sq.-km and surrounded by alpine vegetation, Dalhousie has charming architecture and panoramic views of both plains and the white capped views of the mountainous ranges.

Dalhousie ranges between 1,525m and 2,378m high from sea level. The maximum temperature of Dalhousie in summers is 30*C and the winter temperature comes down to almost O*C. Heavy woolens are required in winter and light woolens or tropicals in summer.

There is much to be explored in the history of Dalhousie. It has, over the last 25 years or so developed into a town of exceptional Educational institutions. The Prominent schools being Dalhousie Public School, Guru Nanak Public School , Sacred Heart Convent and Hill Top School among others.

 
 
HOW TO GET THERE
Air: The nearest airport is at Pathankot which is about 2 1/2 hours driveand also at Jammu which is 4 1/2 hours drive.
Rail: The nearest railhead is Pathankot, which is well connected to Amritsar, Jammu, Delhi and Jalandhar.
Road: Onward journey from Pathankot to Chamba and Dalhousie is by road. Punjab and Himachal Roadways run services, as do private operators. A regular taxi service is also available.
