Taj Falaknuma Palace -Retrace the steps of Nizams, European royalty, enchanting Begums, distinguished Heads of State and walk the walk of Kings through this Palace in the sky. 2000 feet above Hyderabad, Taj Falaknuma Palace’s 60 beautifully refurbished and lovingly restored rooms allow you to journey into the clouds and into the glided ages, where grandeur and excess is celebrated and savoured in equal measure.

Falaknuma Palace is also known as the ‘mirror of the sky’ because at 2000 feet, it was built in the clouds and reflects the ever-changing moods of the sky. Set in 32 acres of land and spread over 19400 square meters, the Palace was commissioned by Sir Nawab Vikar-Ul Umra, a Hyderabadi nobleman from the Paigah family.

Those who have revelled in its opulence have revelled in its large Venetian chandeliers, rare furniture, grand marble staircases and gurgling fountains, priceless statues, and objects d’art, stained-glass windows, unique sketches and murals encased in ornate frames, a world-class collection of crystal as well as the Mughal, Rajasthani and Japanese gardens personally conceived by the Nizam. The Palace Library, a replica of the one at Windsor Castle, is a collector’s envy as it is home to the rarest of manuscripts, books and one of the most acclaimed collections of the Holy Quran in the country, all of which were selected and brought back by the Nizam himself.

The former residence of the Nizam of Hyderabad, Falaknuma Palace has been rightfully leased by the Royal Family of Hyderabad to the Taj Group of Hotels Resorts and Palaces with Royal Family members having personally supervised part of the Palace’s refurbishment. Luxury Rooms Wake up to the lush green of the Central Courtyard in Taj Falaknuma Palace’s Luxury Rooms. At Taj Falaknuma Palace, Luxury Rooms are glimpses of royalty, shaped by Italian marble flooring, valance curtains, colonial furniture, 310 TC Egyptian cotton linen sheets and Ploh bathrobes. All Mardana Wing bathrooms command a view of the city from a very exclusive, private vantage point and all Luxury Rooms face a Central Courtyard, which is green, lush and brimming with nostalgia.

Palace Rooms Get up close and personal with sheer opulence in rooms marked by rich fabrics, gleaming oak wood floors and hand-painted walls. The Nizams of the past would wholeheartedly approve of the Palace Rooms in all their opulent glory. These rooms are about richness, beauty, perfection and luxury, all of which have been channelled through the medium of royalty. Historical Suites Worship over a century of exquisiteness in the Pincer Suites located strategically in the Scorpion-shaped palace. Owing to their location in the Scorpion-shaped palace, Taj Falaknuma Palace’s Historical Suites are also called Pincer Suites. But these Pincers ironically take the sting out of the Everyday, inviting you instead to a time when worshipping exquisiteness was a guiltless norm. Time stands still in delicate Edwardian artwork, antique furniture, grand high ceilings and luscious fabrics personally handpicked by Her Highness Princess Ezra.

Royal Suites An indulgence of opulent furnishings and intricate architecture. The Royal Suites with opulent furnishings and intricate architecture are located in the Zenana Wing. The timber used all across these rooms are well seasoned 120-year-old Burma teak.

Grand Royal Suites Catch spectacular panoramas of this 400-year-old city in a setting defined by lavish artistry and pure decadence. Even though you are 2000 feet above the city, the Palace’s Grand Royal Suites will catapult you to a different kind of high. Spectacular panoramic views impatiently duel with the lavish artistry of the interiors as both compete for your attention. As a symbolic reminder of Islamic traditions gone by, we have retained the separate privacy section of the Begum Suite, designed for a time when women were meant to be unseen, private and in purdah. Additionally, the carpets in these Suites have been custom-made in Turkey to complement the existing upholstery

Grand Presidential Suites Sink into a world of unprecedented excesses complete with its own swimming pool in what was once the sanctum sanctorum of the Nizam himself. The Suite is a self-contained oasis of luxury, a declaration validated by the presence of a private swimming pool, a private Jacuzzi, ornate furnishings and soothing marble fountain. It is where the past breathes the same air as the present, where intricately detailed restoration work rubs elbows with state-of-the-art facilities and experiences. Evidence of Her Highness Princess Ezra’s personal dedication to its restoration can be seen everywhere, right from the custom-designed furnishings from Turkey, to the Cararra marble floors, which make up the bathrooms. The Grand Presidential Suite also has duplex rooms, a salon, interconnecting rooms, exclusive access to the Jiva Spa and an uninterrupted view of some of the most exquisitely manicured lawns.

UNIQUE DINING EXPERIENCES
Jade Terrace The terrace is a spectacular venue for hosting private dinners as it offers breathtaking views of the city far below.

Shahi Dastarkhan Soldiers with mashals in their hands align the entrance to the romantic setting of the Chowki dinner (traditional low level seating.) In the distance, a troupe performs a symphony of Sufi Qawalis. A six course traditional gourmet meal is served by the royal butlers followed by a tasting of flavored hookahs.

Shikaar Ka Khaana Throughout the centuries, the Nizams of Hyderabad were famed for their sumptuous feasts and their passion for food. Hunting had always been the foremost passion of the sixth Nizam. These themes can be arranged in any of the gardens at the Palace.

The 101 Dining Hall The Dining Hall has the world’s longest dining table, made in seven pieces which can seat 101 people at a time.
